PROMETRA International will host the Andrew J Young Foundation delegation for a visit to Senegal later this month. Ambassador Andrew J Young and Executive Director Kathy White met with Senegalese President, HE Macky Sall in Washington, DC on November 12th to discuss the details of the upcoming trip to Senegal. The main purpose of the trip is to complete a video-documentary on Senegal, the partnership research between PROMETRA International and Morehouse School of Medicine and African traditional medicine. The AYF team will visit Gorée Island, the Pink Lake, Center for Experimental Traditional Medicine (CEMETRA) in Fatick and hold meetings at PROMETRA International headquarters. A major celebration will be held on Sunday, November 27th at CEMTRA to welcome the delegation and will involve traditional healers, saltigues, ndepkatts, government officials, patients and community members. The Andrew J Young Foundation will discuss aquaponics, public health and income generating projects with the PROMETRA International team led by Dr. Erick Gbodossou. The delegation will include physicians, global development experts, public health professors, and business persons. Ambassador Young visited CEMETRA in Fatick over eight years ago to meet many of the persons living with HIV that were begin treated by PROMETRA International with traditional African medicines. Many of these patients are alive and well and will have the opportunity to meet with Ambassador Young and the team from Morehouse School of Medicine again. Ambassador Andrew Young is a member of the PROMETRA International Board of Directors and has spent his life working to improve the health and wellbeing of Africa.
