Day #3 of the Andrew J Young Foundation’s Visit to PROMETRA International
The Andrew J Young Foundation video team visited Gorée Island to film within The House of Slaves (Maison des Esclaves) and its Door of No Return today. This museum is a memorial to theAtlantic slave trade on Gorée Island, 3 km off the coast of the city of Dakar, Senegal. The delegation participated in meetings with PROMETRA International, NGOs, policy makers and Ministry officials where HIV and Ebola scientific research findings were presented. Sylvia Ashley, The Andrew Young Foundation presented a signed portrait of Ambassador Young to PROMETRA International which will hang in its international headquarters. Ambassador Young serves as a member of the board of Directors of PROMETRA International. Dr. Anita Jackson presented another portrait gift adding to the PROMETRA collection. Dr. Kofi Kondwani presented on behalf of Morehouse School of Medicine.Day #2 of the Andrew J Young Foundation’s Visit to PROMETRA InternationalThe delegation continues its journey to complete a video-documentary on Senegal and the HIV and Ebola research conducted by PROMETRA International and Morehouse School of Medicine. It has been working with the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia USA conducting in-vitro viral research. Patients living with HIV and treated with PROMETRA’s herbal medicines at the Center for Experimental Traditional Medicine (CEMETRA) met with members of the delegation to share their stories and years of good health following treatment. The Andrew J Young Foundation is a supporter of both PROMETRA and Morehouse School of Medicine.

There they were greeted by PROMETRA International, the traditional healers of the Malongo Healers Association, n'depkatts of Rufisque & Yoff, government officials, local leaders and patients living with HIV.Today is the first day of a four-day visit to Senegal where the AYF will complete a video-documentary that documents the groundbreaking research conducted by PROMETRA International and the Morehouse School of Medicine. The film will be a 2017 featured film of Andrew Young Presents, shown in over 100 countries worldwide. Delegation members include Dr. Anita Jackson (USA), Mr. Martin Rodriquez (Benin – USA), Dr. Kofi Kondwani, Morehouse School of Medicine (USA), Kathy White, CEO of AYF, Sylvia Ashley, AYF Global Program Director, CB Hackworth, AYF Producer, Mrs. Betty Gikonyo (Kenya) and Theresa McGhee, PROMETRA USA .The delegation is being hosted by the Republic of Senegal, Office of the President. Ambassador Andrew Young met with His Excellency President Macky Sall earlier in the month in Washington DC to discuss this trip and other partnership opportunities.
